Clare Priestland – Makeup Artist Extraordinaire
~ How long have you been in the industry?
I have been doing wedding makeup for 11 years. I just love weddings, and getting to be part of someone’s special day is magical.
~ Where did you grow up and why aren’t you there now?
I grew up in Sydney, Australia, and I moved to Canada in 2005. But just for the season! I decided to stay for the summer and fell in love with Canada and in love with a man. I had already planned my trip back to Sydney, so I went home. I lasted six months. One day, as I was sitting on the train watching life go by, I thought to myself, “What are you doing?” I missed Canada, I missed the lifestyle, and I missed my man. So I decided to come back. That was seven years ago. We now have a beautiful baby boy and I have my Canadian residency, halfway to becoming a Canadian citizen!
~ Favourite colour, shape or pattern?
Right now I am into everything white. I just love the freshness, the brightness and what you can do with it. You can have a clean fresh bright white, or an old white, which has softness and calmness. My favourite pattern right now would have to be the Moroccan trellises. It is a touch of modern and also centuries old.
~ The best time of day is evening because:
When I arrive home and unlock the front door, the sound of my son’s laughter and the look on his face when he sees me walking up the stairs is priceless.
