Summer has officially arrived in our lovely mountain town, with the Summer solstice ushering it in last week .  Now is the time to enjoy all that summer has to offer us!  The clear refreshing waters of our  lakes, biking and hiking on mountain trails with the flora and fauna surrounding us, and of course, one of the Sea to Sky’s main summer attractions, Pemberton Music Festival!!

Here is our guide to Festival Hair and summer sun hair protection.  Just as we need to protect our skin from the suns UV rays, it is often forgotten that we need to do the same for our hair!  So while we are outside enjoying all that our gorgeous Sea to Sky area has to offer, here are some tips and tricks to keep your hair looking and feeling it’s best, and a look at what the 2016 festival hair trends are all about!

 First things first, UV protection…

Products with UV protection built in are a great option to avoid sun damage to your hair.

Try Aveda’s amazing product,  Sun Care Protective Hair Veil.  It is essentially a sunscreen for your hair!!

“It is a lightweight, water-resistant UV defense mist that forms an invisible screen to help protect hair from sunexposure for up to 16 hours, to minimize color fadage, damage and dryness.  It’s UVA/UVB filters are naturally derived from wintergreen and cinnamon bark oils” (

Simply spray it on damp or dry hair and you’re good to go!

Another great way to protect your hair from UV rays is a cute hat!  Really, it’s the best way!

You are completely covering your hair and preventing rays from even coming close to your luscious locks.

Which leads us into festival hair trends…

Hats are always on trend for festivals and as a bonus, wear your hat on day two or three of your

festival weekend and hide any oily roots and festival messiness.

Braids are a big yes for festivals, and have been a mainstay over the last few years with this year being no exception.

There is no fussing with your hair throughout the day/night, those windy days won’t be an issue and you can create some fantastic,

natural looking waves for the next day with the right braid.

A new trend for 2016’s festival season is the double bun.  Wear them high or low, keep them a little messy and you’re right on trend.

Or if you really want to go for it, why not do two at once?  Go for a half up half down look with double buns and a braid mixed in.  Have fun with it!

Enjoy the summer,  the festivals, enjoy the beautiful sunshine and don’t forget to protect your hair!
